Les enracinées - collective

We are artists passionate about natural and regenerative materials.

What roles did we play in creating the first shroud?

Lucie Harriet Salmon - Designer and coordinator

Juliette Gauvrit - Embroiderer and co-designer

Elodie Madebos - Seamstress

We do not believe in the dichotomy between art and craft, in which the concept takes precedence over the manufacturing process. The idea that the author of a work is solely the person who conceptualized it, a position often found in contemporary conceptual art, seems outdated. We are therefore co-artists of the work.

Lucie Salmon
After earning a bachelor's degree in development studies, with a minor in comparative religious studies, Lucie fled the library for a Professional Certificate in Aromatic Plant Production and then worked in horticulture. She then trained to be a funeral advisor but is not practicing until funeral legislation has evolved. She is also an ambassador for Humo Sapiens, a volunteer association dedicated to making terramation accessible and legal in France.

Juliette Gauvrit
Juliette is a textile artist who trained in traditional gold embroidery in Rochefort (the historic center of gold embroidery). Her work is rich in a sensitive approach to materials, often sourced from her own harvests. Juliette weaves spaces of delicate communication, sows words, and embroiders dreams.

Elodie Madebos

After working for many years in theater costume and set design, Elodie decided to turn her sewing skills to showcasing the everyday uses of noble materials such as linen, hemp, and wool. In partnership with the Causses du Quercy Natural Park and its co-founder, they created a brand of petrochemical-free insulated bags: Le Mouton Givré.
